GRN Review
“Kotetsu” is the second store from the popular “Shalala” restaurant in Mountain View. While Shalala offers a casual dining experience, Kotetsu seems to be more focused on providing a “real” ramen, showing off its artisanry. Kotetsu took over the space where Menta was previously located, and has since undergone a complete remodeling and reopened as Kotetsu in the fall of 2012.

Silicon Valley has never experienced a tonkotsu ramen like this. The noodles are not the simple standard associated with tonkotsu, but one that fits the unique taste of the owning family’s lineage--a slightly thicker noodle with a good backbone. The harmony of the noodles and the soup truly shines through as you continue eating. This is bona fide ramen that will leave you eating until you can eat no more.

Aside from ramen, however, there is also an izakaya style menu, complete with alcohol and other items.
